I am a Secondary Counsellor that works with MS students and their parents, as well as teachers. Having been a Secondary School English teacher for 9 years, my background allows me to meet students where they're at. I studied at an international school in Hong Kong until graduating and pursuing a BA in English Literature and American Studies at The University of Hong Kong, immediately followed by a PGDE in English and English Literature. In my 3rd year of teaching at a local HK school, I started reading for an MA in Literary and Cultural Studies (HKU), allowing me to teach Social Studies in addition to English when I joined my current place of employment in 2008. In 2014, I changed positions to work with Middle School in the capacity of a Secondary School Counsellor after earning my Master in Counselling from Monash University in Australia (2012).

Before I became an educator, I worked with pre-teens and children as a camp counsellor with the YMCA (HK) and as a tutor, allowing me to bond with students in a manner that is experienced, authentic, and compassionate. These experiences led to a pursuit of counselling as another means of connection. I advocate passionately for the students (both current and former), parents, and teachers I work with: we are all human, and we're not perfect. Working with this variety of individuals makes for a lot of variety in my day! I facilitate personal, social-emotional, and academic growth in the students I work with through partnering with the student, their parents, and teachers using a multi-theory, person-centred approach.

MS is where it's at — the years are full of variety and challenge! I am privileged and so thankful to be able to arrive at work every day and not know what to expect!
